Tip # 1 It’s your time to shine!

We will be here to guide you through your entire session to, making you’re completely comfortable; this includes giving clear direction on poses.

Tip #2 What to Wear

We want you to be very confident in front of the camera and through our experience, wearing your favorite colors and outfits that you have gotten the most compliments on are great.

Final Sneak_0119.jpg

To ensure you’re not competing with patterns and super bright colors, we encourage you to wear solid colors that compliment your complexion and body type.  Also, graphic shirts with writing and logos should be avoided at all cost.

We are here to remove any anxieties so feel free to send us images of your outfits at least 1 week before your session.  Another way for us to share ideas with one another regarding your session is to create a Pinterest Visual Board…. DON’T WORRY… I am here to help you with that if need. This board will allow you to communicate any inspirations you have.

Tip # 3 Make sure you choose shoes that are complimentary to your outfit.

Changing wardrobes are an option however, we recommend that you have your outfits ironed and on hangers, also, we would like to stress that changing is part of the photography time so we encourage you to choose outfits that will allow you to make a quick change.  Have a few different looks such as: Casual or Dressy.

Tip # 4 Clean Face

Looking your best includes a nice shaved or trimmed face… remember these are the images that may be used for your invitations and/or hung on the wall of your parents home.

Tip # 5   What about your Hair

This is not the time to try new things!  Get the hair cut that makes you feel super handsome, trying new things right before your session could result in a disaster so play it safe and go with what you know.

Tip # 6 Props

To personalize your session, feel free to bring props that will display any activities that you were a part of such as football, baseball etc.  please be sure to notify us via your questionnaire or by text or email to let us know what props you'd like to include so that we are best prepared for the session.

Tip #7 Glasses/Braces

These items do not define who you are and is only a reflection of a moment in your current life so feel free to smile if you desire.  Lens glare is common and can be addressed by wearing a pair without the glare or if you're comfortable in removing them, that is welcomed also.  If you choose to wear your lens with the glare, we can remove the glare in editing for an additional fee.

Tip # 8 Complexion/Skin Concerns

We are skilled at editing blemishes and acne so please don’t feel discouraged. Be sure to maintain your skin regiment consistently up to the day of your sessions to control all acne and skin irritations.

Tip # 9 Additional People

Often times parents and your close friends desire to be included in a couple of the images, we welcome this at no additional charge after we captured all of your desired shots.

Tip # 10 Arriving on Time

You want to take advantage of all of your photography time, arriving at least 10-15 minutes early will ensure you take advantage of all of your photography time.

It is my hope that this helped you prepare a little better for your upcoming High School Senior session. If you have any questions you may reach us at 813-310-6399.  We would love an opportunity to serve you.  Finally, HAVE FUN!!!!

Why is it important to have a Wedding Day Timeline?

WebGroup_6960.jpg

Venue: TradeWinds Island Resort

You’re getting married and already you’ve spoken with several vendors and the one question that may be asked over and over again is… who will be creating your wedding day timeline?  If you’ve hired a wedding planner or day of event coordinator, good news for you, they will assist you in creating a detailed timeline.  If a coordinator/planner simply isn’t in the budget for you and you’re having to create one yourself, and you’re not quite sure where to begin, allow me to share a few tips on creating a timeline that will help to keep it together and allow your wedding day to flow seamlessly.

Tip #1:  ALLOW ROOM FOR DELAYS

You can almost ALWAYS count on unexpected things to happen, but allowing extra time will alleviate the stress that follows.

Tip #2: CLEARLY COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR VENDORS

You’ve hired your vendors and now you’re waiting for your special day.  It is important to periodically touch basis with your vendors up to the day of your wedding.  One of the most important question to ask every vendor is “How much time will you need on the wedding day to effectively execute your job”?  Additional tips:

·      Product vendors such as your florist and bakers, ask for clear timelines for delivery and set up if applicable.

·      Your hairstylist and makeup artist, how long will it take to style each person. (Bonus Tip: Request those that will assist you in getting dress, to go first so that they are free to help with any last minute things.)

·      When you and your bridal party are fitting for your dresses, have someone monitor the amount of time it takes for you all to get dress.  This will be important for determining amount of time for Bridal Party Prep.  Encourage the men to do the same.

·      If you do not have a wedding coordinator and you’re responsible for venue set up, ask the venue how soon are you allowed to have access to the venue set up.  (Bonus Tip: Sometimes vendors will allow you to set up the evening before as long as there aren’t any scheduled events…have not because ya ask not !

ARE TIMELINES REALLY THAT IMPORTANT?

Have you ever attended a family event and people were assigned a task but all who were assigned to do a task had no idea of the who, what, when and where to be?  Can you say Chaos?   Without a detailed timeline OR following your time line, that is exactly what you can expect on your wedding day.  From a photographers perspective, the story being captured will reflect just that.  You can 100% count on missed photo opportunities that you will never be able to recapture, so YES…. IT IS THAT IMPORTANT!

S & S Hendley Photography helps you create a wedding day time line in the event you do not have a coordinator.  Here is a sample of a wedding day timeline that will help you get started.  Once your time line is created it is important that all vendors involved are provided a copy at minimum 2 weeks prior to the wedding day which will allow room for corrections.

Dj + Jocelyn - High Senior Prom

The final days of your High school senior year is by far one of the most exciting years ever.  Prom is one of many exciting events that occur for both juniors and seniors and if you’re a cool kid on campus then you may be invited to attend during your freshman and/or sophomore year.  Some have planned for this occasion, since day one of High School.  While the dresses are nicer, much hasn't changed since I was in high school.  I remember getting dressed and arriving at the bowling alley where my family spent their Friday nights, to show off what I thought was the best dress around and then off to a local restaurant for some delicious food.  So, I am totally reminiscing here... lol, so back to this cute couple.  DJ was the perfect gentleman and Jocelyn was  sweet as she is beautiful.   Both sets of parents were present to support this exciting milestone while standing behind making loud sighs at the fact that their babies have grown up and then giggling at the instructions I was given to get them to be their purest selves.   These are moments that we simply never get back.  Prom is equivalent to a young lady in high school as it is to a young woman that is getting married, in the sense that she gets all dolled up with expectations of seeing her handsome date all suited up just for her.

Allow me to share 2 tips to help ensure you don't miss the opportunity to capture these special moments.

1. Hire your photographer in the beginning of the school year.  Most photographers will allow you to pay a retainer fee to hold the date, which also gives you plenty of time to pay for it before the actual expenses pile up at the time you're shopping for all the essentials for prom.

2.  Create a small budget for your high schooler, consider starting it at the point they enter high school.  Because there are several events that take place during the senior year, examples are senior pictures, homecoming, prom, year book, cap and gown and much more; this will alleviate last minute stresses.  Hope this helps!

Corporate America meets Photography............

When my faith kicked in...

It’s a few days after I turned in my keys, laptop and badge to my employer whom I’ve worked for, for the past 10 years as a Manager /Business Analyst with an extremely rewarding salary, 30+ days of paid vacation and 4-5 floating holidays per year.  Reality kicks in, It’s finally happening I am in control of my own time.  I now determine my vacation days and most of all my salary bracket is unlimited!  I AM A FULLTIME PHOTOGRAPHER! OMG!!  If I dare express every emotion I am feeling, this would turn into a book so I’ll keep it short and simply say I’m excited and am in full expectation of the unknown.

Some of you may think that I am crazy, others admire the idea, allow me to say that I completely understand both perspectives; I’m very fortunate to have an amazing support system in my family which makes this transition seamless.  It was actually my husband that encourage me to follow my heart... so grateful for him.

Allow me to share 2 things that helped prepare me to leave Corporate America  ......

1.  I Identified my passion and pursued it …

I purchased my camera in 2011 and didn’t really do anything with until 2012 when I did a free photo shoot of my cousin’s little boy for his first birthday.  I did this for the first 8 months before making a decision to start charging.  I also joined local photography groups to ensure I was surrounding myself with like minded people.  Now, please know, if you’re thinking about pursing photography; this can either hinder or help you.  If you avoid the error of trying to learn others style and use what you learn as an inspiration only, you’ll be ok.  Otherwise, you’ll delay your growth because it’s difficult to focus on the vision God gave you because you’re busy focusing on another’s style…... (Speaking from experience).  I’ve learned my lesson and there is liberty in being creative and inspiring others.  I’ve taken online courses and workshops and practice... practice… and practice.  I thank God for now having a repeat clientele that value me as a creative and trust me to capture their images over and over.

2.  Begin with the end in mind

I was very fortunate to accept a position within my company 3 years ago, that came with an expiration period at the point of hire.  Having this advantage upfront allowed me to set goals. It allowed me to develop a timeline on where I needed to be at the point of release.   While there are areas I am still working on, this helped keep me focus on the end goal of becoming a Fulltime Photographer.

“Would you tell me please which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.  “I don’t much care where… said Alice.  Then it doesn’t matter which way you go”, said the Cat – This is quoted from the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.  The message in this is, it’s important to understand where you want to go in order to set the proper goals to get there.

Now that I am functioning in my dream job , my new lessons are, I am working just as hard for myself as I was for my previous employer... and I enjoy every single moment!!   One thing I’m excited about implementing is choosing one day out of the week and CREATE!

If you think I poured my heart into serving my clients before, with more time......watch me now!

I would love for you to join me on this journey.  Please leave a comment if this has inspired you in any way or to simply say hello!

If I can do it, so can you!

The Bradford Family

There are things in life you're able to replace, such as a flat tire or even a new car, place of residents, clothing and all sorts of material things.  However, a relationship between family is something you can not replace.  Loving one another is an essential part of what we were created to do.

We had an amazing opportunity to capture this ahhamazing family.  It was sweet watching there interaction with one another, watching the oldest daughter bloom right in front of my camera, watching the youngest daughter show the others just how to a photoshoot should run, with all sorts of spunk and pizzaz to pulling a smile out of the son that wouldn't say 2 words for the majority of the session.  The genuine love between a husband and wife that didn't require any special instructions to express their feelings toward one another.

Rebecca + Kirk - Quality Time at the Beach

And their love story continues.....  He adores her and prides in taking care of her heart.  She adores and respects him and it genuiely shows.  We agreed on the day of their wedding that we'd continue their story in a post wedding session.   As I prepared for their session, I did as I would all sessions and that is say a prayer and ask God to guide me on how to execute the session in a way that all are pleased.  He NEVER fails me, in fact he often gives me more than I ask for... the proof is in this session.

I must share a secret that not even the couple is aware of.... psst come a little closer, this session was biblically inspired. Yup, I said it.... I used the bible to help me execute this session.  Every single pose was inspired by a scripture that  will forever change my style of shooting couples.  As your photographer, I'm required to do more than just take pictures, I'm required to capture your story in a way to make it as comfortable for you, while ensuring it looks and feel genuine.

We'd like to wish Rebecca and Kirk an amazing life together

This session was taken at E.G Simmons in Ruskin, the place where Rebecca and Kirk had their first one month anniversary date.  The video was a quick fun clip we took with my iPhone 7.
